The 1980s ushered in an era of change for Tiger Beat. The publication tried to keep up with the times, though the whole Teen Idol scene went into a slump as the audience became more interested in rockers like Billy Idol, Duran Duran and Blondie. Michael Damien, Rob Lowe, Matt Dylan, Rick Springfield and Scott Baio had a fair share of fans, but Tiger Beat began to flag, and Charles Lauffer decided to sell out in 1983, marking the end of the innocent years.
