Tiger Beat came into its own in the late ’60s. Publisher Charles Lauffer was perceptive enough to recognize the huge interest in The Monkees following the debut of their televison series in 1966, Lauffer signed an excusive merchandising deal, which paid off big-time as The Monkees became the cover-boys of choice. Tiger Beat published several Monkee-only maganies and pamphlets for the run of the hugely popular show.
