In 1974, the Defranco Family became a sweeping phenomenon with their hit single, "Heartbeat, its a Love Beat." Interestingly, The DeFranco Family were discovered by Charles Lauffer of Tiger Beat magazine, who signed them to his own record label LEG (Lauffer Entertainment Group.) As a result, most of the other major publications refused to cover them.As with Partridge Family, the DeFranco kit was marketed in all the Lauffer magazines as well as on the back of their album covers.
